Patagonia Fly Fishing Trip

Patagonian Chile is a beautiful region filled with breathtaking scenery, wonderful people, and some truly epic trout fishing. We have arranged a trip from 7 to 14 January 2023 to fish the gorgeous Aysén Region with Cinco Rios Lodge. After two years away due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we are excited to return to one of our favorite spots, where we have fished for several years running.
Our 7-night, 6-day trip will take us to the outskirts of Coihayque, the capital city of the Aysén Region and of Patagonian Chile. From there we will travel to the Estancia del Zorro, located on the high pampas right along the border with Argentina. This beautiful and historic working cattle- and sheep-ranch offers a great base to fish a huge array of spring creeks, lagos, and medium to large rivers for brown and rainbow trout, both in Chile and Argentina. This is a place to accrue some passport stamps for sure! In this beautiful setting we will spend three days dry-fly fishing for trout in a wide array of settings, on foot or in boats, and three nights in a beautiful colonial-era lodge enjoying fantastic meals. When our third day of fishing has ended, guests will be transported to Cinco Rios lodge, located just on the outskirts of Coihayque. This beautiful, recently remodeled lodge is one of the most comfortable we have ever stayed at. From there, we will fish another three days in larger rivers and lagos, some of them glacially-fed. We will be targeting rainbows and browns, using big beetle patterns, hoppers, ants and dragonflies, or stripping streamers for big, aggressive fish. The many other microclimes of Chile are on full display here, as you will see glaciers, temperate rainforest, valleys and high plains.
As with the Estancia we will enjoy excellent meals and fine wines, in a thoroughly comfortable and modern lodge setting. Rooms at both locations are large, with two queen beds, independent heat and air, and private baths. Views from both lodges are fantastic and you will enjoy sitting on the deck after a day of fishing taking in the scenery.
Included in the cost of this trip is all shuttle transports (from and to the airport in Balmaceda, and between lodges), all lodging (two guests per room), meals, six days of guided fishing (two anglers per guide), and all liquor, wine, and beer. Not included in the price of this trip is airfare from your origin city to Balmaceda (we will happily help you arrange your flights, hopefully to coincide with our own), incidental expenses, and gratuities for your guides and the lodges’ staff. The cost of this fantastic trip is $6,250 USD.
